Shri Krishna Janmashtmi ....

Janmashtami is the joyful celebration of Lord Krishna's birth. Major celebrations of Krishna Janmashtami takes place at midnight as Krishna is said to have made his divine appearance in that hour. Fasting, bhajans, pujas and many other rituals mark Janmashtami celebrations in India. Shri Krishna is considered to be one of the most endeared human incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Born more than 5000 years ago in Mathura city, the revered God of Hindu religion and his teachings hold immense relevance till date.

Krishna Janmashtami is observed on the eighth day of the dark half (Krishna Paksha) of the month of Shraavana in the Hindu calendar, when the Rohini Nakshatram is ascendent. The Hindu calendar being lunar, these two events the day being the eighth of the waning moon (Krishna-paksha Ashtami) and the Rohini Nakshatram being ascendent may overlap for only a few hours. In such an event, the festival may be celebrated on different (but successive) days by different people, depending on their local or family traditions The festival falls sometime in the months of August/September of the Gregorian calendar.

Dahi Handi Celebrations :

In Mumbai and Pune, Janmashtami, popularly known here as Dahi Handi is celebrated with enormous zeal and enthusiasm. Various Handis (in this context, a Handi is a clay pot, suspended high above the ground, containing prizes) are set up locally in almost every nook and corner of the city, and groups of youngsters, called Govinda Pathaks (English: Troupes of Lord Krishna) travel around in trucks trying to break as many handis as possible during the day.

Many such Govinda Pathaks compete with each other, especially for the handis that dole out hefty rewards. The event, in recent times, has gathered a political flavor, and it is not uncommon for political parties, and rich community groups to offer prizes amounting to lakhs of rupees.

Some of the most famous handis are at Dadar, Mazgaon, Lalbaug and some in Thane a neighboring district of Mumbai and Babu Genu, Mandai in Pune.

Truth of Life ....

For last few months i was not feeling good . I was getting bored of this so called life. It actually felt to me that i am not the same person as i was a year back or so. It does not mean that i had no friends or i didn't had a good earning. I was missing my previous college a lot. I got many new friends in this span of time but only few could manage to get to my heart or could understand me rather i would say. Moreover instead of trying i was unable to find any way to fulfill my dreams. May be i was more concerned about the goals i had since my childhood instead of looking out ways to do better in what i was actually doing. It was more about mental satisfaction which i was searching for. I forgot that a mind can't be satisfied by fulfilling the desires because they are endless. We can't stop dreaming! We can't stop desiring for a bit better than what we have! But if you know how to enjoy what you are doing to make your dreams true then believe me no one in this entire universe will be happier than you. That's what i realized now. We have to sacrifice few dreams to make others come true. Sometimes its really difficult to manage because we are not alone. We have to consider others . We can't be happy leaving everyone behind. I learned that Life is a process which has to go on. Its a long journey not a destination & we have to find better path to go through. Its not about goals, its all about how good you play the game of life.... Vikram

Sone de maa ....

Teri kahaani mein jita tha beta tera....
Tu hi bata kya jhuta tha kissa tera....
Aansu baha na maa....ek din yeh hona hi tha....
Lamha Lamha jita jahan.... Ladte Ladte main thak gaya....
Sone de maa main nahi jeena....
Sone de maa main nahi jeena....

Kabse hai pukare maa aawaaz koyi....
Kabse andheron mein ghar mera khoya kahi....
Sadiya hui tere aanchal mein soya nahi....
Lori koyi phir se suna....
Chalte Chalte main thak gaya....
Sone de maa main nahi jeena....
Sone de maa nahi jeena....

Aakhri Angdaayi, nind mujhe aayi....
dheere dheere dhundla sama....
haste haste ab kar vida....
sone de maa main nahi jeena....
sone de maa main nahi jeena....
